We Care for the Needs of Our Community
We Care for the Wider Community and the World
Grace Church has a number of ongoing mission activities which it has faithfully supported for many years. Most of these activites are associated with The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs, a Frederick County nonprofit organization that was formed in 1981 to coordinate the efforts of local churches in Frederick County to help the hungry and the homeless in our community. Many were the working poor, who through no fault of their own, did not have sufficient funds to meet ther most basic human needs.
Members of Grace Church serve at the local Soup Kitchen on one Sunday every other month, and throughout the year, Grace Church collects nonperishable food items for the local Food Bank. Our "Grace Groceries" are dedicated during the offering on the third Sunday of each month..
The Alan P. Linton, Jr. Cold Weather Shelter (named after the grandson of Grace Church members Betty Linton and the late Jack Linton) has been a project which Grace Church has supported since its inception. Originally, the Shelter was housed in various churches in downtown Frederick (including ours). Members of Grace Church have historically participated as volunteers and have served on the Board.
Grace Church has been an avid supporter of Habitat For Humanity both locally and internationally. Each year, members of Grace Church participate in a Habitat build in either Western Maryland or West Virginia. Grace also financially supports Frederick County’s Habitat For Humanity. One of our members participated in Habitat builds in South Africa and New Zealand. Another key leader of the church is completing service in the Peace Corps in Belize (returning Spring 2012).
Grace Church was recognized by the United Church of Christ as a "5 for 5" church in 2010. This title is given to congregations who support all five special offerings of the United Church of Christ -

Throughout the month of January, we collected special offerings for the Church World Service Blankets+ Program. At the end of the month, we had collected a total of $484.
On Sunday, February 5th, Grace Church participated in the Souper Bowl of Caring, a national program to raise money and collect food for local food banks. We raised $70 and collected 47 items for the Frederick Food Bank.
Thank you to all of the members of Grace Church for your generosity!
